The Procedure
Your surgery day has finally arrived. You will have been advised not to eat or drink anything after midnight. The morning of surgery, you will be greeted in the surgical suite, and provided with appropriate garments for your procedure. Dr. Giuffre will see you prior to your surgery to review your operation, risks, and answer any questions you may have. After a pre-operative photograph is taken, Dr. Giuffre will use a surgical marker on your body, to plan the surgery. The operating room nurse will guide you into the operating room where your anesthetist will start an intravenous (only for general anesthetics) and put you to sleep.
The Recovery
Patients who have a general anesthetic, or a local anesthetic with conscious sedation, will be moved from the operating room into our recovery room following their surgery, for a 30 to 90 minute stay. You will be provided with a prescription for medication, to manage discomfort, and you will also be provided with Dr. Giuffre’s personal contact information should you have any questions are concerns following your surgery.
